Great Egret (Ardea alba) is a bit smaller than Great Blue Heron. Yellow bill and black legs and feet separate it from smaller Snowy Egret. Almost driven to extinction by hunters who took the nuptial plumes for ladies hats. All images made at Gilbert Water Ranch.
