Black-necked Stilt
Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus) is a close
relative of the American Avocet. It is common in the
western U.S. Very long legs are bubblegum pink in
breeding plumage; eyes are a deep red. Parent "collects"
precocious young under wings for warmth and protection.
