Northern Jacana
Northern Jacana (Jacana spinosa) is a mega rarity anywhere in the U.S. This bird was discovered at a golf course in Casa Grande, AZ, about 50 miles south of Phoenix. Note the very long toes that allow this bird to walk on water lilies and other floating objects. There's a bony yellow spur on the leading edge of the wing where it bends. Classified as a shorebird, but shares some behavior with rails.
