Yellow-billed Loon (Gavia
adamsii) is a big of the far north that winters along
the Pacific coast of Alaska and Canada. In recent years
solitary birds have been sen at inland lakes in the Lower
48 states. In Arizona there have been a couple of birds
seen on the Colorado River near Lake Havasau.
This bird was a remarkable find on Tempe Town Lake in the
Phoenix metro area where it stayed for a few days.
